About Me

Hi! I am Sangeeta, an Indian female singer and dholak player specialising in Hindi and Punjabi Urdu songs for Indian and Pakistani weddings and festivities. Music has been an integral part of my life since the tender age of 7 when I first discovered my passion for playing the dholak and singing. Growing up in Delhi, I eagerly participated in community events, gracing weddings with melodious tunes and rhythmic beats.

My journey took an exciting turn when, at the age of 18, I moved to the UK after getting married. Settling in a new country, I embraced the opportunity to work in our family-owned retail business, but my love for music remained unwavering. Fate had something extraordinary in store for me during a casual invite to a party. As luck would have it, no one at the gathering could play the dholak or sing, and that's when my moment in the spotlight arrived.

Seizing the chance to showcase my musical talent, I confidently took the dholak in my hands and started singing. Little did I know that this seemingly small performance would become a life-changing event. My soulful voice and the captivating beats of the dholak left the audience mesmerised. Overnight, word spread like wildfire, and my phone began ringing incessantly with calls from people who loved what they heard and wanted to hire me for their special occasions, especially for Ladies' Sangeet functions.

Since that serendipitous moment 18 years ago, I, Sangeeta, have been fortunate to participate in around 2000 joyous functions. But it's not just the music that sets me apart; it's my unique style of infusing comedy into my performances that has won the hearts of many. Connecting with the audience through humour, I create an atmosphere of pure joy and celebration, making every event an unforgettable experience for everyone present.

My musical journey has been fun and full of happy emotions, traversing different cultures and bridging gaps with the universal language of melody and rhythm. Through my singing and dholak playing, I aim to not only preserve the rich traditions of Indian weddings but also to bring a touch of home to those living away from their motherland.

When I'm not performing, you'll find me cherishing time with my family, who have been my biggest supporters throughout this remarkable voyage. My passion for music continues to grow with each passing day.
